Perplexity Comet is an agentic web browser built on Chromium (Blink engine) that bakes Perplexity's answer engine and a task-executing AI assistant directly into the browsing surface. Instead of switching between a browser tab and a chat window, users get a persistent sidecar that can see the current page's DOM, summarise it, compare it to other open tabs, answer follow-up questions with cited sources, and — in agent mode — take multi-step actions on the user's behalf: drafting and sending email in Gmail, scheduling meetings, adding items to shopping carts, filing forms, extracting structured data from tables, or navigating through multi-page flows without hand-holding.
