Merlin AI is a Chrome extension and web app from Foyer that aggregates 20+ large language models behind a single subscription. From a sidebar that opens on any page, users can summarize articles and YouTube videos, draft email replies, generate images, ask follow-up questions about the current tab, and rewrite social posts without copy-pasting into a separate chat app. It exposes GPT-4o, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Llama 3.1, Mistral, and Deepseek V3 from one dashboard.

The pitch is straightforward: instead of paying for ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, and Gemini Advanced separately, Pro users get pooled access to all of them for around $19/month, with a free tier covering smaller models (GPT-3.5, Claude Haiku, Llama 3 8B) and unlimited YouTube summaries. That makes it most useful for researchers, marketers, and knowledge workers who want to A/B different models against the same prompt, or who live in the browser and resent context-switching.

The trade-off is that Merlin is a thin orchestration layer rather than its own model lab: there's no fine-tuning, no agentic tool use to speak of, and quality is bottlenecked by whatever quota the upstream providers give the reseller. Power users who already pay for one flagship subscription may find Merlin redundant, but for generalists it's a credible swiss-army knife.
