Le Chat

Le Chat is Mistral AI's consumer- and team-facing chat assistant, the European answer to ChatGPT and Claude. It runs on Mistral's own model lineup (Medium 3.5, Small 4, plus Voxtral for voice) and has expanded well beyond plain Q&A: web search, deep research, document and slide generation, data analysis, and a coding agent that can write, test, and ship. Mistral has rebranded the product as 'Mistral Vibe', but chat.mistral.ai is still the live entry point and the Le Chat name persists in app stores.

The pitch versus US incumbents is sovereignty and speed. Mistral is French, hosts in the EU, and its models are famously fast and cheap; for European teams worried about data residency, Le Chat is the obvious shortlist entry. Pricing follows the now-standard ladder: a free tier for casual use, Pro for heavier reasoning and all-day coding, Team for shared workspaces with admin controls, and Enterprise for custom deployments. Connectors for Gmail, Calendar, Slack, GitHub, Jira and 100+ other tools push it into agent territory rather than pure chat.

Against GPT-5 or Claude Opus 4.7 on hard reasoning, Mistral's frontier models still trail, and the product surface changes faster than the docs. But for everyday writing, drafting, research and lightweight coding, it's a credible daily driver, especially if you want a non-US provider.
